After a hard day between Nice and Savona along the Med coast (and a night in a gypsy camp) we finally hit a beautiful sweeping mountain road north from Genoa towards Piacenza, the SS45.
Leaving a tunnel we could hardly believe our eyes, Lake Iseo.
First campsite:

RESULT!
It's easy to see why the coast road from Nice into Italy is so manic.
Dotted with Blackpoolesque towns, crammed with scooters and cars, everyone making their way down to the Med for a quick dip in the sea to cool off.
For us though, 100 miles of physical and mental torture - but hell of a view - if you dare look...
The mountains beckon - for the next days riding.
